Research: hair cells can be repaired!

Mice that have become hard of hearing because of loud noise can hear better after the injection of the drug LY411575. The hair cells in the inner ear started to grow and these hair cells will partially restore the hearing.

Astudy, executed by reserachers of the Harvard Medical School, learned this. Head of the research Dr. Albert Edge of the Harvard Medical Schools says:  “We have shown that hair cells can be regenerated from the surrounding cells in the cohlea”.
